Andrew OKeefe, full-time Undergraduate lecturer and Undergraduate Co-ordinator, graduated from the Bachelor of Film and Television at the VCA in 2001. His award-winning graduation production, 'Wednesday', screened both nationally and internationally including festivals in London, New York, Munich and Tel Aviv and was purchased for broadcast on USA cable television. After graduation, Andrew formed the production company Apocalypse Films ( ). His debut feature film 'The Independent', released in 2008, is a political satire that tells the story of an ill-fated political candidate during Australia's Howard-era of politics. The film screened in over 30 cinemas throughout the country and gained favourable reviews from ABC's At the Movies, The Herald Sun, In Film, Urban Cinefile, with FilmInk magazine calling it "a rare gem in the Australian comedy landscape". Andrew is also an award-winning playwright, having won the world's largest short theatre festival, Short and Sweet. His script 'Uncomfortable Silences' still holds the all-time record for the highest audience vote in the history of the festival. In 2014, Andrew completed his Masters Degree (Research) which explores the dynamics of collaboration during the co-writing of the feature-length romantic-comedy screenplay "Benbo". Andrew has recently completed his second feature film, an adaptation of Dostoevsky's "Crime & Punishment", which has won more than a dozen awards at Australian and International festivals in 2016. Andrew has recently also begun his PhD candidature at the Faculty of Arts, School of Culture and Communication attempting to design a methodology that a film director can use as a collaborative tool whilst also that also maintains a 'singular vision'.
