SAF Music Provident funds can be accessed by BMus Jazz and Improvisation and Interactive Composition students to provide for purposes incidental to their study, up to the value of $250. 

Suitable purposes include:

  • software
  • instrument purchase or repairs
  • scores, text books
  • musician earplugs
  • recording devices
  • conference or festival registration. 

These funds cannot be used for the hire of people, for example:

  • lessons
  • accompanists
  • associate artists or crews

The Dean will approve the recipients.

Students may apply for up to $250.

Applications for 2016 are now closed.  Next round will be February 2017.

Criteria & eligibility
The SAF is awarded annually to students of music (Jazz and Improvisation and Interactive Composition students only).

Selection process
All applications will be presented to the selection panel. Please note, due to the number of applications, not all will be automatically approved.

How to apply
Use the online application process, which will go live on this page at the beginning of Orientation week, semester one. You'll be asked to provide your personal information, including course and year level, a summary of how you intend to use the funds and how they are incidental to your study, and if you are claiming a purchase already made, you can upload a copy of the receipt.

Additional requirements
On receipt of this grant, receipts must be presented to the Scholarships Officer for reimbursement. Payments will not be made in advance, and must be for purchases made between January 1 and June 30 2016. Please note, the cut off day for submission of receipts for this round of grants is July 31 - if you receive a grant in semester 1, you will not be eligible to claim it after July 31.
