$45,000 arts residency launched for Indigenous artists

Indigenous arts practitioners from Victoria are invited to apply for a year-long residency at the University of Melbourne, including a cash grant of $40,000 and up to $5,000 for materials as part of the Hutchinson Indigenous Residency. Read more.

War dance flash mob in support of Adam Goodes

Staff and students from the VCA & MCM came together in Federation Square on Tuesday 4 August at 2.10pm for a flash mob, in solidarity with Adam Goodes. Richard Frankland, Head of the Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development, led a war cry to call for an end to racism in Australia. The event received widespread media coverage from The Guardian, The Age, SBS, ABC and broadly across social media channels such as Twitter.

Deborah Cheetham inducted on to Victorian Women's Honour Roll

Twenty-two women were inducted onto the Victorian Honour Roll of Women at a ceremony at Federation Square on Wednesday 11 March 2015. Among them was opera singer and composer Ms Deborah Cheetham AO, the VCA & MCM's Associate Dean (Indigenous Development).
The annual induction recognises the achievements and contributions of remarkable Victorian women who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in their field of expertise, interest or endeavour.The Honour Roll was first established in 2001 and contains over 500 names.
