Today, the new ‘Brian Brown Recording Studio’ was launched by the Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley MP at the University of Melbourne’s Southbank campus – home to the Faculty of the Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (VCA and MCM). Last Friday March 20, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Professor Barry Conyngham (Dean of the Faculty of VCA and MCM) presented the 2015 Sir Bernard Heinze Memorial Award to the University of Sydney’s Professor Anne Boyd AM. As one of Australia’s most distinguished composers and music educators, the award recognises Professor Boyd’s outstanding contribution to music in Australia. Read More
Deborah Cheetham inducted on to Victorian Women's Honour Roll

Twenty-two women were inducted onto the Victorian Honour Roll of Women at a ceremony at Federation Square on Wednesday 11 March 2015. Among them was opera singer and composer Ms Deborah Cheetham AO, the VCA & MCM's Associate Dean (Indigenous Development).
The annual induction recognises the achievements and contributions of remarkable Victorian women who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in their field of expertise, interest or endeavour.The Honour Roll was first established in 2001 and contains over 500 names.

Rare 'Doctor Who' synthesiser, EMS Synthi 100, restored after decades in storage

When Leslie Craythorn retires as the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music's senior technical officer this year he will leave behind a rare instrument. On request of the university, Mr Craythorn has spent some of his last months on the job meticulously restoring a rare Electronic Music Studios (EMS) Synthi 100 modular synthesiser. The ABC reports.
