Glass animator Thom Fraser

Glass animator Thom Fraser (MFTV (Animation) 2006) has been announced as the winner of the inaugural CREATE STUDIO competition in Sydney. Thom first discovered the technique in his film studies at the VCA, and began experimenting in the rare method which involves animating hundreds of individual glass paintings.  He created much of his winning artwork over ten days of non-stop painting, captured in the 30-second promo. As the winner, Thom receives $10,000 prize money and will have his work displayed on a Kings Cross billboard from mid-March.

'Summer Suit' hits world stage

Leon Salom, Lecturer in Design at the VCA was recently Production & Costume Designer for Aussie short film 'Summer Suit'. It now hits the world stage after being selected for both the prestigious Berlin Film Festival and Slamdance Screen Festival in Utah. Watch the trailer here

Roll over Beethoven

MCM student Peter Wilson is one of the pianists playing the fourth movement of Beethoven's 9th symphony, Ode to Joy, from inside a Bechstein grand piano as part of the Kaldor Public Art Project #26: Stop, Prepare, Repair by US artists Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla.
