Short Course: Composition: Working with Melody and Harmony

Over six sessions participants will investigate melodic and harmonic components to music composition making – including ways and approaches to generating, extending, structuring and controlling harmonic and melodic ideas. There will be some emphasis on understanding the relationship between melody and harmony through different styles and genres of music. Techniques for working with melodic and harmonic materials will also be explored through looking at looking at scores, listening to recordings, discussion and composition exercises.
